Hey! As of 9/20/2023, it seems as if a lot of people are having issues playing the game in English. I think I've found a solution.
For anyone wondering how to play the English version of Balvenie's Birthday Party, please follow these simple steps (there's a problem with the English version not having the base files):
- Install both the English (ENG) and Korean (KR) versions of the game.
- Extract the Korean (KR) version into a folder of your choosing. (If you're using the default folder generated by WinRAR it'll look like a bunch of random symbols. You can rename the folder to whatever you prefer.)
- Go to said folder.
- Access the "www" sub folder.
- Access the "data" sub folder.
- Extract everything from the English (ENG) version to the "data" folder and overwrite all of the files.
- Go back to the main folder where your game's exe. is located and double click Game.exe
- The game should now be running in English! Enjoy!
Extra: Make sure to remove the excess zip files, you no longer need them after you've extracted both files.
This is really good! I love the art style and the horror elements contrast well with it. I have some theories as to what the story is about, but I'm going to avoid spoiling anything
can someone help please? i'm having a problem playing the game, when i go to run the game it says "the code execution cannot proceed because nw.elf.dll was not found. reinstalling the program may fix this problem." i've tried extracting it, but when i do that nothing happens, and when i click on game it just asks me to extract it again. i've tried reinstalling the game 3 times and the same error message still shows up.
I played it because of the sick but cute art. The pastel colors used in the game made it possible to play even the gory scenes without feeling that sick. I really enjoyed the world created by the author's hand-drawn art!
I was also overwhelmed by the awesomeness of the True End video. After playing, I watched almost all of the author's youtube videos and found them to be even better.

my only problem is that when i get the true ending, the credits dont play all the way through- they freeze at a random point.. if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!!
Welp, as also one who experienced it as well, again it's the engine problem, all I can recommend is to watch the videos, which are on the movie folders, and/or then make the videos one second (by video editor/video converter) to skip the sequence entirely, which will allow you to get to the remainder of the game. Make sure to backup the movie files if doing so.
The trick to fix that is just do one full playthrough and not get any of the other endings prior. Except the true end or the game will break then you'll unlock the secret ending.
overall I've played till the end of the game, and just got to like 3/4 endings, it's a decent-good game. I enjoyed it. There are number of things that reset back some places, and I'm unsure if it's a bug or intentional.
the only sad thing, the ending video/movie crashes/freezes the game at random point of the video, making the credits unplayable. I think this is mostly game engine/RPG Maker problem at this point, as I had seen this issue already on another game before.
(Also any or anyone has hint for the secret one? at least what conditions.)

this game was so cool, as expected its just like jo_sipu's animations.. cryptic as heck, and very freaky!!! Fun game, i just hope i got all the endings lol guess I'll wait for some english ytber to play through this... My only complaint is 2 things; Maybe im stupid but it was so annoying to have to replace all those files..though in the end, it worked great! and two; when i finished the secret ending, there was an image that tried to load but kept failing, it was super annoying idk if its my fault or not but whatever, still a great game!
I have a trouble. When I start the game, after the "Made by Jo sipu" label show up, I got another glitchy image, and then the game failed to load the title. I clicked Retry and then it brought me back to the glitchy image, and again the title was failed to load. How to fix this?
hey! sorry im late 2 your comment but heres how you start. open the file, youll find something titled Game, it will be an application! click then right click, open as administrator. click yes / allow to the popup. there you go!!
go to the "www" file, then you go in "data" and replace the necessary files by the english ones :)
obs: if you dont know what you have to replace, delete all the map archieves (minus the mapinfo), the actors archieve, and the system archieve in the korean file, then copy all the archieves in english file and then paste it

I downloaded it to my computer but I can't figure out how to get it to run, I'm not too computer savvy. Can somebody help?
I think you just right-click the zipped file and press "Extract all"
I could be wrong but some computers won't let you do it, tried it on my older pc and it won't extract.

I tried doing everything you said but I don't think I understood the part where I overwrite the files, how do I do that?
copy the files > paste into the correct folder > click "replace the files in the destination"
overwrite means "replace the old files with the new ones, keeping the same file name"

it's better understood by thinking of the eng version of the download as a "patch for the kr download," rather than an "english version of the game"

Download game file and than the english version and copy it to Data folder

NW_ELF.DLL you are missing a DLL file on the game. you need to download that DLL and put it to your game directory. Then it should work now.

I love this game so much, but for some reason the Eng version is not able to open on my computer, so I've been using google translate on the Kr one.

그리고 버그같은데 타인발렌 살리기 전에 토끼한테 골격 띁어 오면 눈깔을 안가져 와도 그냥 진행해요. 그상태에서 살리고 타인발렌이 아드백 한테 갔을때 아까 안꺾은 눈깔 다시 꺾어서 타인발렌 방으로 가면 다시 죽어있어요.
